Summary: The UC (University of California) system is a massive employer in CA. However, in an effort to save money, the UC system is contributing to the massive issue of job instability by cutting wages and reducing benefits, all while outsourcing jobs. By outsourcing jobs, workers are not guaranteed a livable wage or decent benefits that they, as human beings, deserve. At the same time, the highest UC positions were awarded multi-million dollar bonuses (and I can almost guarantee they never have to stress about paying rent, affording medical bills, or getting food on the table.) The core issue is that the workers are consistently undervalued for the hard work they do. In response, the workers' union, AFCSME, has called several labor strikes in various UC campuses, such as the ones photographed below. They are fighting for basic securities, and are not "greedy" like the UC system believes. Everyone deserves to feel safe, secure, and valued in our society, and corporate systems need to stop prioritizing money over humanity.

UCLA also started to prepare before sunrise. They marched around the medical center with lively chants through the sun and rain. In the afternoon, various workers, professors, and students spoke out in support of the strikes. Senator Bernie Sanders also appeared to recognize the efforts of the workers and the union.
